Maj. Gen. William Lord, Prov. Head Cyber Command at BAFB 4-15-08

Major General William Lord, who is in charge of the Provisional Cyber Command Headquarters at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, La. was the guest speaker at the Riverbend Rotary Club in Shreveport Tuesday, April 15th, 2008.

Gen. Lord talked about the latest round of Air Force Bases announced to be still in the running for the permanent home of Cycber Command. 

Louisiana’s BAFB is one of the 18 locations still to be considered in the site selection search.

In an EXCLUSIVE One-on-One interview with Tom Pace of  “The Talk of the Town”, Lord told Pace what the communities of Shreveport & Bossier need to do, in order to show  their support.

Lord also talked about the delayed timeline for the permanent command decision.

John Paul Scotch Receives Honesty & Integrity Award from WH Booth Lodge 380 4-17-08

 John Paul Scotch, received The Honesty and Integrity Award  Thursday night, April 17th, 2008 from W.H. Booth Lodge No. 380 of the Order of the Masons. This is a most highly revered award presented by Masonic Lodges across Louisiana.  Tom Pace with “The Talk of the Town” spoke with John Paul about what the award means to him. 

A junior at Northwood High School, John Paul has always had a love for sports.  At the age of eleven, he suffered an eye injury that caused him to go blind in his left eye.  Not letting this barrier keep him away from his passion, John Paul began volunteering in various sports.  

As a freshman at Northwood High School, John Paul wanted to participate as a member of the football team, but was not released by his eye doctor to do so.  As a result, he became an intricate part of the football program under the direction of Coach Daniel Turnbow, as the football manager.

Kenny Wayne told Pace he’s proud to headline a benefit concert for his friend and fellow guitarist Buddy Flett.  Kenny Wayne told Tom about the line-up of music greats donating their time (including Hubert Sumlin), performing live to help raise money for Buddy Flett’s medical expenses. Flett was recently stricken with viral encephalitis about 3 months ago, and was in ICU at LSU-HSC for nearly a month. While Flett is home now, he’s still going through rehab treatment that’s expected to take several more months, which means he’s not able to work.

SPD Asst. Chief Glenn Schach Retires- Interview with Tom Pace 4-15-08

It was a bittersweet day for Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn, as he announced the promotion of Cheryl Jeter as the City’s first female  Assistant Chief of Police…he also announced that 30 year veteran SPD Assistant Chief Glenn Schach was retiring on Thursday, April 17th, 2008.. 

Schach thanked all of his fellow officers, and praised them for their hard work. In a One-on-One interview with Tom Pace from “The Talk of the Town” Schach reflected on his career with SPD, and his thoughts about Jeter being promoted as the 1st Female Assistant Chief of Police.  

Cheryl Jeter Interview on Becoming Shreveport’s 1st Female Asst. Chief 4-15-08

Shreveport Police Captain Cheryl Jeter was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police this Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in an afternoon Promotions Ceremony in Shreveport, Louisiana. With the promotion, Jeter becomes the first female assistant Chief of Police for the City. 

Following her badge-pinning ceremony, Jeter answered questions from Tom Pace from “The Talk of the Town” and other media…mainly about what it means to be the first Assistant Chief of Police for Shreveport.

Mayor Glover, SPD Chief Whitehorn, Don Shea, Exec. Dir. DDA Announce New SPD Red River Dist. Kiosk

In a late morning news conference Monday, april 14th, 2008, held in front of the new SPD Red River District facility, Mayor Cedric Glover annnounced the joint funding effort for the project between the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), the El Dorado Resort Casino Shreveport, and the City of Shreveport. 

Addressing the media were Mayor Glover; Shreveport Councilman Monte Wolford; SPD Chief Henry Whitehorn; Exec. Dir. of the DDA, Don Shea; El Dorado Representative Leslie Peck and others involved in the development and implementation of this latest facility to insure enhanced security in the Central Business District.

El Dorado donated the building space, while DDA contributed $25K to build it out, and Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) provided manpower and materials to remodel the space.  

Glover praised the joint effort saying, “This is a good example of the effectiveness of public/private partnerships.” 

ADA Eddie Brossette Interview with Tom Pace on Caddo Judge Sect. 2 Candidacy 4-14-08

Caddo Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Eddie Brossette is now officially in the Caddo Judge’s race to replace retired Judge Charles Scott, for Section Two of the First Judicial District of Caddo Parish. 

In an exclusive one-on-one interview, Monday, April 14th, 2008,  Brossette told Tom Pace with “The Talk of the Town” he feels this is the direction he’s now being called to serve, at this time in his life.  He’s been an ADA for the past 10  years.

The vacancy for Chief Judge Charles Scott’s seat on the bench came about when Scott resigned back on Febraury 29th, to enter the race for Caddo District Attorney. 

The Caddo Parish election is set for October 4th, 2008.

Cora Savaqnnah, widow of Crime Victim Eddie, at Nat’l Crime Victims Week 4-14-08

Crime victim Cora Savannah spoke out today during the National Crime Victims’ Press Conference called by Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator, this Monday, April 14th, 2008.

Ms. Savannah told the sadness she feels every day at the loss of her husband, and encourages the public to get involved, and keep those crime victims, like herself, always present in their prayers.

Prator officially proclaimed April 13-19, 2008 National Crime Victims Week in Caddo Parish.
